Actress turned director Drew Barrymore has decided to step behind the lens once more to direct a sequel to the classic film Wizard of Oz, IMDb News reports. Barrymore was originally slated to star in the film, but it is now uncertain whether she will both star and direct. This will be Drew‘s second time directing, the first of which was last year’s Whip It.

Currently all we know of the synopsis is that it is about the great-great-granddaughter of Dorothy Gale who goes head to head with the Wicked Witch of the West to save Earth and Oz. Is anyone else a little bit jealous of Drew right about now? First she gets to remake Cinderella in Ever After but now she gets to play Dorothy Gale!?

I guess this is the perfect chance for me to bring up how I feel about Universal potentially making a film of the hit Broadway musical, Wicked based on the book by Gregory Maguire. This play? Is amazing. It’s one of the coolest stage shows I have ever seen in my life.

I am concerned that translating it to film would actually take something away from it, and I rarely feel that way! Plus I’m just so in love with Idina Menzel (Elphaba) and Kristin Chenoweth (Galinda), the original two leads, that I had to try to imagine other actresses in those roles. Here is what I came up with: Glee‘s Lea Michele as Elphaba and Hollywood triple threat, Kristen Bell as Galinda. For kicks, I’ve included some videos of both of them singing so you can judge for yourself if they would fit the roles.
