FIRST LOOK: ‘The Lovely Bones’ full trailer

“The Lovely Bones” trailer premiered last night on “Entertainment Tonight” and DreamWorks has debuted it online.
It looks phenomenal. I read the book back when everyone else read it (but I swear I don’t belong to a book club) and when I heard it was being made into a movie I was skeptical. Even though the book is not lame at all, I imagined a movie version would this complete joke with ghosts and the hereafter.
Director Peter Jackson seems to have made it work, based on the trailer. It’s visually stunning and bright for such a dark story. I’m hoping the movie spares us the details of the girl’s death. Parts of the book leading up to the her death were just too hard to handle and probably wouldn’t go over well with movie audiences.
Based on the acclaimed book by Alice Sebold, “The Lovely Bones” is directed by Academy Award Winner Jackson. The movie opens and December and you can probably expect it to pick up some Oscar nominations.

I love the book, but the trailer for this film looks incredibly lame. Unless it’s not representative of what Jackson’s actually done, this might be a tremendous disappointment.

Adam, I understand what you’re saying. To watch the trailer, and not know it was based on the book, it would take some thinking to figure that out. It could be lame. I still like the visuals though.
