keira_knightleySome movie ideas are worth cloning and Fox Searchlight is hoping “Never Let Me Go”, a movie about clones, is one of its own. “Never” has just signed on Keira Knightley to star in the picture which revolves around three English students who realize their boarding school is really just a holding pen until they are need for organ harvesting. Why yes, that does sound a lot like Michael Bay’s megaflop, “The Island,” which also happened to be a ripoff clone.

The saving grace in this news is the list of creative minds behind the project: Alex Garland, who wrote “The Beach” and “Sunshine” for Danny Boyle (“Sunshine” was my top movie of 2007) and Mark Romanek, director of “One Hour Photo”. With these two attached I’ll keep this one in the “maybe” column.
