Kirsten Dunst Confirms Her Return In Spider-Man 4 & 5

Kirsten Dunst knows just how to ruin my day. A few weeks ago we heard about the deal to pay Tobey Maguire a massive $50 million for his return in Spider-man 4 & 5. That news was paired with the confirmation that director Sam Raimi would return for the back-to-back filming. The one lead missing was that of Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane.

MTV got to the issue when they quizzed her on the possibility of seeing her Snaggletooth smile sharing the screen with a webslinger again:

“I’m in,” said the actress matter of factly. However, when pressed to make the announcement official, Dunst quickly changed her tone, and rather cryptically added, “I’m not saying anything, I know there’s rumors…”

That’s quite a change in tone from Dunst after her dismissive attitude in the lead up to the release of Spider-Man 3. At the time she rebuffed any ideas of returning to the role which she later scaled back to only requiring the return of both Maguire and Raimi. Looks like that need has been met. Sigh.
