M. Night Shyamalan Talks “Unbreakable” Sequel
M. Night Shyamalan has offered up a string of disappointing films after his initial winner, “Sixth Sense.” Now looking to break that streak with a return to his “Sense” follow-up, “Unbreakable”, Shyamalan is weighing his options for the Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson action thriller.
“I made the mistake of getting caught up in the hype of the immediate reaction of the movie, which, experience has shown me, is not accurate to any of my movies,” he explained. “And If I had been more confident and said ‘I believe in that movie, I love that movie, and I should just go start writing the second one,” that would’ve been the right move. I’ve still been thinking about it a lot and wonder if it’s too late.”
While I enjoyed the majority of “Unbreakable” I felt the ending was rushed and garbled as though Shyamalan had no intentions of any follow-on stories. Considering M. Night’s recent films I’d welcome a return to a more familiar storyline and based on comments from Jackson, so would he.
