Sigh. This can’t be good for NBC‘s young drama “Kings” which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. I guess that should have been a bad sign. NBC is taking the Ian McShane led series off its Sunday 8pm timeslot and sending it over to Saturday nights.

Could this be a move to play out a few more episodes before calling it quits? Variety thinks it just might be:

Rather than scrap “Kings” altogether, NBC will continue to air the show in the Saturday at 8 p.m. slot, where expectations are extremely low. Peacock mostly airs drama repeats on the night.

Move also comes as the Sci Fi Channel is set to run a marathon of “Kings” episodes Thursday night.

NBC had been waiting to see if “Kings” would hold steady, but the drama posted its lowest rating yet on Sunday — a 1.1 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 and 3.6 million viewers. After four episodes, the show has averaged a 1.5 rating/4 share in the demo.

Hopefully “Kings” will get a little more attention over on SciFi, though I really don’t think that’s a good match for the story categorically speaking. NBC has shifted shows over to the USA Network which would have made me feel better here. Either way I’m worried that yet another great series will killed too soon.

If you’ve ever considered watching the series (and you should) then get on it now. Things have really gotten good with one of the lead conspirators against the king being revealed and it was no one I had expected at all. Start watching “Kings”!
