New A Walk In The Woods movie got mixed reviews from top critics. Broad Green Pictures released their new comedy/drama flick, “A Walk In The Woods,” into theaters this past Wednesday, September 2nd, 2015.

All the top movie critics have posted their reviews, and it turns out that they were pretty mixed about it, giving it an overall 51 score out of a possible 100 across 25 reviews at Metacritic.com.

The movie stars: Emma Thompson, Kristen Schaal, Mary Steenburgen, Nick Nolte, Nick Offerman and Robert Redford. We’ve posted blurbs from a few of the critics, below.

Todd McCarthy at The Hollywood Reporter, gave it a very good 80 score, saying: ” A Walk in the Woods serves as a terrific showcase for two exceptionally durable stars.”

Leah Greenblatt from Entertainment Weekly, gave it a 75 grade. He said: “Their odd couple interplay propels a series of shambling, expletive-laden mishaps that aim more for easy laughs than Wild epiphanies.”

Peter Keough at the Boston Globe, gave it a 63 score. He stated: “It consists of a series of episodic encounters, misadventures, and musings redeemed in part by the presence of two scenic wonders, the unspoiled 2,190-mile grandeur of the Appalachian Trail and the spectacular crapulousness of Nick Nolte.”

Susan Wloszczyna at RogerEbert.com, gave it a 63 grade, saying: “These guys still know how to not just hold our attention but grab it, even if their current film needs them more than they need it.”

Joe Neumaier at the New York Daily News, gave it a 60 score. He stated: “Natural” perfectly describes Nolte’s performance, too. With his growly voice and bear-like aura, he might be dismissed as a walking sight gag, but don’t let that fool you. Nolte’s way with a joke is nimble, and his delivery is spot-on.”

Manohla Dargis at The New York Times, gave it a 60 score, stating: “It is unexpectedly moving and occasionally delightful to spend time with these titans of cinema as they walk and sometimes wobble, delivering words that become meaningful because they’re lucky enough to be spoken by Mr. Redford and Mr. Nolte.”

Dennis Harvey from Variety, gave it a 60 grade, saying: “It’s pleasant enough cinematic comfort food, but even so, you may be hungry again soon afterward.”

Michael Phillips over at the Chicago Tribune, gave it a 50 grade. He said: “It’s not a difficult picture to watch. All you want from A Walk in the Woods, honestly, is a chance to enjoy a couple of veteran actors. But the book’s comic tone hasn’t found a comfortable equivalent for the screen.”

Peter Hartlaub at the San Francisco Chronicle, gave it a 50 grade. He said: “So this film feels less like an easy paycheck and more like semi-retirement. Whatever wisdom is coming out of Redford’s mouth as Bryson, it always seems 100 percent clear he pursued the role because the shoot would be beautiful and he could pal around with an old friend.”

Lo Lumenick from the New York Post, gave it a 50 score, stating: “A Walk in the Woods is broad as a barn door, with two stars who have minimal chemistry — and there’s not much in the way of reflection about mortality.”

Richard Roeper from the Chicago Sun-Times, gave it a 50 score. He stated: “A middling sitcom.”

Mark Olsen over at the Los Angeles Times, gave it a 30 grade, saying: “Despite Redford’s enthusiasm and best efforts, A Walk in the Woods is a tedious journey to nowhere special.” Follow us on Facebook by Clicking Here.
