New Nashville season 5 is going to happen after all,new details. According to a new report from the folks over at TV Line, the ABC canceled drama, “Nashville,” just might get a new life with the CMT channel on cable. They say, it’s basically a done deal, and the official announcement should come at anytime now, most likely during the big 2016 CMT Awards show.

Apparently, this deal had been in the works for a while, because Lionsgate and ABC Studios had convinced the show to just end off with a cliffhanger instead of a series finale ending. Kevin Beggs, who is the Lionsgate TV chairman said: “We wouldn’t take such a strong position to advocate for [the cliffhanger ending if we didn’t feel good about our chances moving forward.”

Apparently, the show’s season 4 finale episode left Juliette’s fate very questionable with the airplane issues where her plane lost radio contact while she was onboard. TV vets, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick (My So-Called Life, thirtysomething), will be taking over as executive producers of show, replacing Dee Johnson. Stay tuned for more details on this exciting development.
