New No Good Deed movie got mostly negative reviews from top critics. Screen Gems (Sony) released their new thriller flick, “No Good Deed,” into theaters this past Thursday, September 11th, and the top critics submitted their reviews, which came out pretty negative with an overall score of 27 out of a possible 100 over at Metacritic.com.

The movie stars: Idris Elba, Taraji P. Henson, Leslie Bibb, Kate del Castillo and Henry Simmons. We posted blurbs from a few of the critics,below.

Lindsey Bahr at Entertainment Weekly, gave it a 50 score, stating: “There’s an intriguing premise buried in there that could have resulted in a smart look inside the mind of a malignant narcissist (which, the movie reminds us over and over again, was Jeffrey Dahmer’s diagnosis too).”

Dennis Harvey at Variety, gave it a 40 grade, stating: “Ensuing action is tamely PG-13 in terms of graphic violence. Despite competent performances and packaging, dialogue and situations in Aimee Lagos’ script are too routine to create much excitement.”

Frank Scheck at The Hollywood Reporter, gave it a 30 score. He said: “Elba, who recruited his former Luther director Miller into the project, gives the film more dignity than it deserves, and Henson delivers a performance of complex emotional shadings. But their fine work is utterly wasted in this B-movie exploitation thriller that would barely make for passable viewing on late night cable television.”

Peter Sobczynski at RogerEbert.com, gave it a 25 score, stating: “In order to keep the flimsy narrative going, both allegedly brilliant characters are forced to act like morons throughout.”

Ben Kenigsberg over at The New York Times, gave it a very bad 20 grade. He stated: “Even without Mr. Rice in the news, No Good Deed would be damaged goods: an inert “Cape Fear” rehash that can’t seem to choose its favorite contrivance.”

Lastly, Joe Neumaier from the New York Daily News, gave it the absolute worst score you can get with a big fat 0.
