New The Boy Movie Got Mediocre Reviews From Top Critics So Far
New The Boy movie got mediocre reviews from top critics so far. STX Entertainment released their new horror/thriller flick, “The Boy,” into theaters today, January 22nd, 2016, and a few critics turned in their reviews for it, and their opinions of it, aren’t too great with a couple of 40 and 50 scores out of a possible 100 at Metacritic.com.
The movie stars: Ben Robson, Diana Hardcastle, James Russell, Jim Norton, Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans. We’ve added comments from the lonely 2 critics that managed to serve up a review.
Katie Rife from The A.V. Club, gave it a mediocre 50 score, saying: “At least, maybe The Boy can lead some novices to better, more original horror movies.”
Joe Leydon from Variety, gave it a 40 score. He said: “Despite the assiduous grinding of plot mechanics by William Brent Bell (“The Devil Inside”) and scripter Stacey Menear, the movie never fully distracts its audience from the inherent silliness of its premise…and, as a result, is more likely to elicit laughs and rude remarks rather than screams and rooting interest.” Stay tuned.
