The Office Webisode - Kevin’s Loan Episode 3

“The Office” is back with another webisode as part of Kevin’s pursuit for a loan to backfill his gambling debts. Last episode Kevin was heartily turned down by the bank, but this week he has help.

Darrell is one of my favorite characters from “The Office”. Despite all the chaos and inept workers at Dunder-Mifflin, he always keeps it together.

Check out Darrell’s role in the new webisode below.

The Brothers Bloom - Trailer Released

I always enjoy con men movies. There have been a lot of them and now “The Brothers Bloom” are adding one more to the genre.

Doesn’t look like there will be a lot of new territory here that Michael Caine and Steve Martin didn’t cover with “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”, but all of the main cast get high marks in my book so I’m still interested enough to see it this fall.

The Brothers Bloom are the best con men in the world, swindling millionaires with complex scenarios of lust and intrigue. Now they’ve decided to take on one last job - showing a beautiful and eccentric heiress the time of her life with a romantic adventure that takes them around the world.

Megan Fox Drools On Jennifer’s Body

Megan Fox’s star continues to rise with her next project, “Jennifer’s Body”, a horror flick written by Diablo Cody (Juno) and directed by Karyn Kusama (Aeon Flux). It’s still pretty early on in the media releases for “Jennifer’s Body” so this is all we have so far. Hopefully we’ll get a teaser trailer before too long.

Interesting note, this poster appears to be a complete knock-off of HBO’s “True Blood” poster released last week. Complete knock-off. Check out the side-by-side here at getthebigpicture.net. Hmm, did someone’s marketing try to double dip here?

Nightmare On Elm Street Remake Lands A Writer

Freddy KruegerHollywood is out of ideas. None left. Further proof? New Line Cinemas has just secured a writer for the remake of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. Wesley Strick is taking over for Wes Craven, the original author and creator of the gloved horror legacy. Strick has list of experience writing for the screen with some good (Cape Fear, Aracnophobia) and some not so good (Doom).

Hollywood Reporter had an oddly funny description of New Line’s plans:

The new project will keep the high school setting and delve deeper in the psychology of nightmares and Krueger himself. The plan is to have a dark tone. The company hopes to have the movie ready for the 25th anniversary of the original.

A “dark tone”, huh? Uh yeah, I’d hope so. The story about a revenge seeking, child killer who wears a knife equipped glove would probably be tough to do as a “light and airy romantic comedy.” Good choice New Line…

Max Payne - 2 New Posters Released

“Max Payne”, starring Mark Wahlberg in the title role, will be released in theaters on October 17, 2008. So far we’ve had the first trailer and a half dozen stills released from the production. Now we’ve got two more official “Max Payne” posters to add to the list.

All of it looks awesome and having been a big fan of the games I’m very excited to see this one come together. What do you think?

Yes Man Trailer Makes Me Say No

Jim Carrey Yes Man

On Monday I saw the “Yes Man” poster for Jim Carrey’s new comedy and it left me a little unsure. Just two days later the movie trailer was released and confirmed my worries. At first I thought Carrey was too young to be playing a mid-life crisis character, but he looks so old in this it kinda seems to fit.

Either way, this is the kind of role I’d have expected to see Nic Cage in, not Carrey. Take a watch and then remind yourself at Christmas to avoid this one.

Update: Interesting fact pointed out to me by Snarkista at Snark Food. Jim Carrey is getting paid $0 upfront for this performance. If, and only if, “Yes Man” makes a profit will Carrey get paid, but then he will get ~36% of that.

Update On Amy Poehler’s NBC Comedy: Not The Spin-Office

The Office

Last week I dangled in front of you the news that Amy Poehler might be joining NBC’s spin-off for The Office, which I’ve cleverly named The Spin-Office, because I’m clever. This week I have to disappoint you with an update that Poehler isn’t attached to said spin-off. Instead she’ll be getting her own show and even more, because of that pesky pregnancy, her show probably won’t be ready to drop post-Super Bowl. Damn uterus!

E! says Amy won’t be joining Dunder-Mifflin, but she will get an office type show:

The newly announced Amy Poehler show will not be an Office spinoff, but they are still working on an Office spinoff.

A little confusing, yes, but based on what the NBC suits said, the just-announced project with Amy Poehler is not a fork of an Office story; it exists as a stand-alone, but it will have a similar tone and style, since it comes from the same writer-producers.

Good news on the one confirmed cast member for The Spin-Office, Aziz Ansari. He’ll most likely be showing up in Scranton to seed his character prior to the January launch of his show. “His show” isn’t really fair as we don’t yet know who will be the lead.

E! does have a few more details on that though:

Rashida Jones does still have a contract with NBC Universal and she, Poehler and Ansari should be considered the newest members of the Greg Daniels Players. Where and when Rashida will pop up remains to be seen.

Again, like I said before, I enjoyed Rashida Jones as Jim’s girlfriend. She was a nice addition to the series, but she wasn’t funny. So the idea of placing her as a central character doesn’t sit well with me. Just because she’s familiar to the series’ audience doesn’t make her the best option.

If you could cherry pick someone to join the new Dunder-Mifflin branch, who would it be?

New Heroes Webisode Released - Going Postal Chapter Two: “The House Guest”

Heroes is doing a good job of keeping the interest alive over the summer with their webisode series. Last week the first chapter was released for “Going Postal”. “Postal” features a new character, Echo, who can do some serious damage with his voice. Now in his second chapter, Echo features another run in with the “Constrictor”. Check it out:
