Prequel to ‘King Kong’ planned

Ever wonder where King Kong came from? Yeah, me either. If you had to pin me down and make me wonder, I’d just presume two really large apes got it on and … well you know the rest.

According to Variety, we might be able to find out. Spirit Pictures is planning a prequel to “King Kong,” the Web site reports. The movie would be based on the book Kong: King of Skull Island, which tells of Kong’s origins and early life (oooh, maybe he was an insurance salesman!). Spirit officials say the film would be motion-capture (think “The Polar Express”).

Spirit Pictures is still looking for producers, directors and a green light.
