Ridley Scott’s “Body of Lies” Gets Re-Retitled, Rewritten, & Teaser Trailer Date

Ridley Scott’s most recently completed film, “Body of Lies“, is set to be released on October 10, 2008. But before it can get there a few changes are still being made.
I was over at Cinematical yesterday reading about the Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe flick when I noticed a comment on the movie getting a title change to “House of Lies”. Initially this seemed plausible after getting the inside track that the “body” part of David Ignatius’ novel had been removed. I decided to do a little follow-up with that same source and learned a few interesting bits.
First off, “yes”, I was told that “Body of Lies” had become “House of Lies”, but that didn’t last long. The usual market testing had been done and they were back to “Body of Lies”. Just seemed to set better. “House of Lies” sounds like a horror movie to me, so I can understand their decision.
Next I learned that the script for the movie, which has been completed mind you, was undergoing some rewrites, specifically the ending. No details on just how drastic it’ll be or if they’ll even implement the changes, but sounded like there was a real chance of it.
Lastly, and this is more exciting than the others to me, but I got a tip on when we could expect to see the teaser trailer: right in front of “The Dark Knight”! Wow, that’s huge for “Body” considering the other hotly anticipated trailer supposedly appearing before “TDK” is that of “Terminator 4″. Both “Body of Lies” and “The Dark Knight” are Warner Bros. flicks, so this is completely believable. You heard it here first!
Not familiar with David Ignatius’ novel “Body of Lies”? Here’s the official movie synopsis:
CIA operative Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) uncovers a lead on a major terrorist leader suspected to be operating out of Jordan. When Ferris devises a plan to infiltrate his network, he must first win the backing of cunning CIA veteran Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) and the collegial, but perhaps suspect, head of Jordanian intelligence.
Although ostensibly his allies, Ferris questions how far he can really trust these men without putting his entire operation — and his life — on the line.
“Body of Lies” rolls into theaters on October 10, 2008.

Since when was Terminator 4 a hotly anticipated trailer?

Since it was the follow on to the legacy of a franchise that has earned $1 billion, will star Christian Bale as Connor, and be the front to a new trilogy. Right about then.

It’s a franchise that died with part 3. Plus when you take the main staple of the franchise, Schwarzenegger, out of the equation you end up with a something that no one cares about. Try mentioning T4 to someone without them rolling their eyes. No one is anticipating T4.

$433 million for a film that wasn’t so great (T3) doesn’t make a strong case for saying the next one won’t be anticipated. I dislike McG as much as the next guy, but a franchise this big has a huge following. Bale is also going to be a massive pull as they’ll ride his Batman wave all the way in.
You might not be interested, but there’s a hearty market out there for it that is.
Who says Arnold won’t make an appearance? He certainly won’t be central, but he’s expressed a desire to get included.

T3 had a $200 million budget and only brought in $150 million domestically, and that’s with Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger’s films always do HUGE internationally, usually far exceeding the domestic total. Without Schwarzenegger that extra international boost is gone. Bale is great, but he does not have nearly the box office draw that Schwarzenegger has.

Well that’s definitely true, without Arnold the international interest will dip and while Bale will do well enough, it won’t be nearly on the same level.
