Charlie Kaufman writes some really weird stuff (”Being John Malkovich”, “Adaptation”, “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind”), but he’s never directed before now. Meet “Synecdoche”, Kaufman’s newest project which he has written and directed. Starring a long list of stars (Philip Seymour-Hoffman, Catherine Keener, Emily Watson, and others), Synecdoche releases in theaters on November 14, 2008.

A theater director (Hoffman) struggles with his work, and the women in his life, as he attempts to create a life-size replica of New York inside a warehouse as part of his new play.
