New Huntsman Winter’s War movie got mostly negative reviews from top critics. Universal Pictures released their new fantasy/action/drama flick, “The Huntsman: Winter’s War,” into theaters this weekend, and all the top critics have delivered their official opinions of it.

Unfortunately, for this film, they didn’t seem too pleased at all, giving it just an overall 35 score out of a possible 100 across 40 reviews at Metacritic.com.

Chris Nashawaty from Entertainment Weekly, gave it a really less than stellar 58 score, saying: “It’s the movie equivalent of a cake that’s all frosting.”

Jason Solomons from TheWrap, gave it a 55 grade. He said: “If all else fails, at least it’s a movie smart enough to know that, frankly, you can’t beat Charlize Theron, covered in gold, shooting lethal spiky tentacles out of her midriff.”

Katie Walsh over at the Chicago Tribune, gave it a 50 score. She claims: “Every time Charlize Theron is on screen, the movie gets crazy campy, and therefore at least somewhat interesting.”

Bill Zwecker over at the Chicago Sun-Times, gave it a 50 score as well, stating: “The mishmash of filmmaking makes it clear this was a movie made by committee — and clearly that committee was composed of folks who were not all on the same page when it came to spinning what could have been a much more engaging piece of fantasy storytelling.”
