New Taken 3 movie got mostly negative reviews from top critics. 20th Century FOX released their new action/thriller flick, “Taken 3,” into theaters this weekend, and a couple of the top critics have submitted their reviews. It turns out that these few weren’t all that pleased with it, giving it an overall 30 score out of a possible 100 across 7 reviews at Metacritic.com.

The movie stars: Famke Janssen, Liam Neeson, Dougray Scott, Forest Whitaker, Maggie Grace, Leland Orser and Sam Spruell. We’ve added blurbs from a couple of the critics, below.

Tom Huddleston at Time Out London, gave it a 60 score, stating: “Taken 3 scores over its predecessor on almost every level: the stakes are higher, the LA locations are nicely photographed and, best of all, there’s an actual plot, with twists and everything.”

Neil Smith from Total Film, gave it a 40 grade, saying: “Liam Neeson cuts a rather sorry figure in what’s less a final flourish for the series than a prolonged death rattle.”

Ali Plumb over at Empire, gave it a 40 grade, stating: ” Megaton’s choppy editing barely disguises his star’s hatred of running, while a brutal 12A neutering lessens what limited fun remains in seeing Oscar Schindler creakily throw a Russian bad ‘un into some supermarket shelves.”

Clarence Tsui from The Hollywood Reporter, gave it a 40 score. He said: “Replacing the first two films’ simplistic, man-on-the-run premise with a stuttering plot comparatively light on action and stuffed with red herrings and inconsequential characters… Besson’s team has signed off the trilogy with a whimper rather than the kind of unfettered bang delivered by the first two films.”

Maggie Lee at Variety, gave it a 30 score. She stated: ” A mind-numbing, crash-bang misfire that abandons chic European capitals for the character’s own backyard.”

Peter Bradshaw over at The Guardian, gave it a 20 grade, stating: “It’s difficult to know what subtitle to give this. Taken 3: Not Again, or Taken 3: Seriously? or Taken 3: This Is Getting a Bit Much Frankly.”
