The Office: Amy Ryan Returns For Five Episodes

Last week we found out that Steve Carell had signed on for three more years of The Office, which is great news. But what I didn’t know was that Amy Ryan, who joined the cast in last season’s finale as the new HR rep, Holly, is currently only a temporary addition. I had been surprised by the exit of Toby considering how popular of a character he is, but Ryan is a great actress (Gone Baby Gone) and would be a wonderful addition to the “staff” of Dunder-Mifflin.

E! Online confirmed the news that Ryan is only currently signed on to star in five episodes next week. Does that mean they just haven’t worked her into the rest of the story or is she just part of a small story arc? Michael’s ex-girlfriend Jan having another man’s baby is certainly going to hold his focus, so I wouldn’t be surprised to see that be a big obstacle for Michael and Holly.

Ah well, that would have been a fun plot line to follow all season. What do you think? Should Holly stick around or do you want Toby back?
