Unforgettable scenes: ‘Boogie Nights’

There are a lot of scenes in “Boogie Nights” that I’d like to feature  here, but they’re not YouTube friendly. I particularly love the first sex scene between Amber Waves (Julianne Moore) and Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg). Moore is amazing at playing a bad actress.

That’s my favorite scene, but the scene most people can never get out of their heads is the drug deal scene. “Sister Christian” is playing. The firecrackers keep going off. And the drug dealer is sky high on cocaine and who knows what. The tension in the air could be cut with a knife.

The scene makes me nervous every time. The nervousness recedes just a bit when “Jesse’s Girl” starts playing, but then you can see Thomas Jane is ready to snap. Then all hell breaks loose. Phenomenal scene.
