Weekend Movie Earnings: April 24 – 26, 2009
Wow. I did not see this coming from the tired storyline of “Obsessed.” Honestly, I thought it was a straight-to-DVD movie when I kept seeing the commercials, but this domestic disturbance stalker flicker, pretty much a “Fatal Attraction” meets “The Temp,” managed to stomp all over the box office with $28.5 million in the top spot.
Meanwhile, the other new releases didn’t fare as well with Channing Tatum’s “Fighting” pulling in at third with $11.4 million and RDJ’s “The Soloist” earning just $9.7 million. Perhaps Jamie Foxx’s antics of telling Miley Cyrus to go do heroin and make a sex tape didn’t help his flick’s chances.
