Weekend Movie Earnings - August 15 - 17, 2008

The mighty Batman has finally fallen. After four weeks at the top of the box office it took a trio of stars in “Tropic Thunder” to end TDK’s rule. Bringing in just $26 million “Tropic” took over the top spot while Batman still beat out Lucas’ flop “The Clone Wars.”
Overall it was a pretty weak box office weekend with just half of the top ten movies breaking the $10 million mark. Could this be the end of the summer blockbusters? Looks like it so far.
Domestic box office movie earnings this weekend, August 15 - 17, 2008:
- “Tropic Thunder” $26.0 million [$37.0M total]

- “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” $15.5 million [$15.5M total]
- “Mirrors” $11.1 million [$11.1M total]
- “Pineapple Express” $10.0 million [$62.9M total]
- “Mummy 3″ $8.6 million [$86.6M total]
- “Mamma Mia!” $6.4 million [$116.4M total]
- “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2″ $5.9 million [$32.1M total]
