Weekend Movie Earnings – July 25 – 27, 2008
It’s no surprise that “The Dark Knight” held command of the movie box office again this weekend with its earnings of $75.6 million. That’s an amount that any movie would be proud of on its opening weekend, much less the second time around. However, I am surprised by the newcomer comedy “Step Brothers” ability to still pull in $30 million despite the fierce competition.
The other movie debuting this weekend, “X-Files: I Want to Believe”, did about what it should have with just $10.2 million. As much of a fan of the original series and movie as I was I still just didn’t see the market for this installment.
Can TDK hold on for a third weekend when “Mummy 3″ premieres? I think it just might.
