Weekend Movie Earnings – July 4 – 6, 2008
Wow. Will Smith still knows how to bring in a crowd to his movies. Since releasing earlier last week “Hancock” has gone on to earn over $107 million with $66 million of that being this weekend alone. Smith doubled the earnings of second placer “Wall-E” in its second weekend of theatrical release.
Missing from the top 10 movie earnings list this weekend is “Love Guru” and “The Happening”, both of which dropped into places 11 and 13, respectively. Yikes, word of mouth can really kill a movie!
With the biggest pending release this weekend being “Hellboy II” I’m wondering if Hancock has enough staying power to hold onto the top spot. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it happen.
