Weekend Movie Earnings: June 12 – 14, 2009
“The Hangover” became the first movie of the summer to hold on to the number one spot at the box office for two weeks in a row by once again beating out Disney’s “Up.” Last weekend’s numbers initially had “Hangover” coming in second, but the estimates were revised to actuals and had the Todd Phillips (“Old School”) beating out “Up.”
This was an impressive feat considering there have been lots of big films out so far this summer and none were able to hold audience’s attention this well. Can it win a third week? We’ll have to see…
Meanwhile, Eddie Murphy released another complete flop with “Imagine That” which earned just $5.7 million and came in 6th. Gee, imagine that.
