Young And The Restless 2016 fired producer, Jill Farren Phelps,new details. According to a new report from soapcentral, the Young and The Restless folks have made a huge change to the behind the scenes action by firing longtime executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps!

And apparently, this big move had been building up for a while as the show had brought in British producer, Mal Young, way back in January 2016.

Jill had beenthe EP since 2012, taking over for Maria Arena Bell. Jill had also previously worked on other soap operas: Another World, General Hospital, Guiding Light, One Life to Live, and Santa Barbara. She also won a plethora of Daytime Emmy Awards.

Steve Kent, who is the senior executive vice president for US programming at Sony Pictures Television made a statement in regards to Jill’s firing, stating: “On behalf of everyone at the show, we extend our sincere thanks to Jill for her years at Y&R and wish her continued success.”

Mal Young will take over the Y&R EP duties. His resume includes work on British soap operas, “Brookside” and “EastEnders” where he saw a lot of success. He also worked with a ton of other drama series. In 2004, he was named Head of Drama for 19Television Limited.

Mal also recently tweeted, in regards to his new EP role: ” Day One.” Then Jason Thompson, who plays Billy Abbott on show, tweeted: “Congrats Mal, I’m excited to go on this journey with you. I trust you buddy! Let’s do it!”

Apparently, there are a lot of fans commenting about how happy they are to see Jill leave the show, claiming that her direction made the show “unwatchable and boring.” However, to her credit, she got the show some of the highest ratings it had seen in years, so I guess she wasn’t horrible, but who knows? Maybe Mall will do much better. Anyways, stay tuned.
