Arrested Development Movie Still Waiting On Michael Cera
Stop playing with my heart, Arrested Development! One day we hear, “it’s a go!” The next we hear, “we’re still waiting on Michael Cera.” Now we’re getting both of those messages at the same time.
“For once and for all, the Arrested Development movie is happening!” Will Arnett tells us today.
Not so fast. Jason Bateman, who played Cera’s onscreen father in “Development”, indicates that Cera is the only hold out:
“You’d have to get [Michael] on the phone to get his answer about whether he’s going to come back and do it or not,” [Jason] Bateman tells us. “He’s certainly not said that he won’t do it. I think Michael is clearly the guy that has come out of Arrested Development with a very big plate, so I think he’s trying to really give some responsible thought to what makes sense for him to do with his career. The guy is 20 years old and I’m sure he doesn’t want to screw up this opportunity.”
Michael Cera should thank his lucky stars that he ever had the chance to star for even just one episode on “Arrested Development,” much less have a starring role. The only reason he has the chance to make any of those other films today is because of the incredible talent he worked with on the show. So for him now to drag his feet on coming back for a movie is incredibly disrespectful to everyone involved. I wonder how much longer Batemen, Tambor, Arnett, Howard, and the rest will continue to be so cordial.
