Platinum Dunes is teaming up with Paramount and Nickelodeon to reboot the awesomely popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise with a brand new live-action movie produced by Michael Bay along with his Platinum Dunes pals Brad Fuller and Andrew Form. The series started out as a black and white comic book in 1984 and rose to ridiculous heights of popularity once it became an animated series in 1987. New Line launched live action films in 1990, which were followed up with a CGI film in 2007 – which wasn’t nearly as cool.
Personally? I’m effin’ PUMPED about this news. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were a huge part of growing up in my world, and I even remember checking out the stage show when I was like 8 years old. I always felt like Splinter didn’t get quite enough respect, am I right? And can we just talk about how much I LOVE the “Ninja Rap”?!?! Oh, you don’t know what I’m talking about? You somehow missed Vanilla Ice‘s EPIC performance of “Ninja Rap” in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze!? Don’t worry – video is after the jump. You can thank me later. COWABUNGA, DUDES!!
